The Red Dress Collection

NEW YORK, Feb 13, 2009 / FW/ — In what is arguably the most star studded Red Dress show since its debut in 2003, The Heart Truth: Red Dress Collection put an ensemble of women that dominate music, sports, television, movies and the theater that made the red catwalk look like a red carpet event.

Straight from Backstage:

In the middle of the New York Public Library was a whir of celebrities, make up artists, hairstylists, TV personalities, and journalists all getting ready for the celebrity Red Dress Fashion Show.  Hilary Duff, Susan Lucci, Vivica A. Fox, Jennie Garth, and Nastia Lukin were a few of the celebrities we first saw.  The Heart Truth rolled out the red carpet for women with heart, who united with America’s top designers to showcase a collection of one-of-a-kind Red Dresses.   Every celebrity who walked the runway was doing it for a great cause- to raise awareness that heart disease is the #1 killer of women.  Susan Lucci, wearing a Red Dress by Gustavo Cadile, and her assistant Louis were welcoming to us as we asked her a few questions about the event.  “Its just a dream experience to kick off New York Fashion Week at Bryant Park and for such a great cause,” said Lucci as she was getting dusted with body shimmer shortly before hitting the red carpet.

Nastia Lukin, a fellow Texan, spoke with us about the charity fashion show and her recent enrollment at Southern Methodist University in Dallas.  “I think it’s a really great that we are raising awareness for women,” said Lukin.  She also told us that she would be starting to train full time again, so traveling to New York and starting school has left her a little stressed.  But, she assured us, she was having a blast in the city and was excited to be a part of the show.  She looked gorgeous in a Red Dress by MaxAzria.
Tim Gunn opened the show with a short update of what had been going on with the heart disease awareness campaign, mentioning that since its inception, over 10,000 women had been tested for heart disease via the Red Dress road show, i.e. when the Red Dress collection visits certain cities around the U.S. after it was unveiled at Bryant Park.
