Ann Demeulemeester Fall 2009

PARIS, Mar 10, 2009 / FW/ — Known for her penchant for creating Edwardian-inspired pieces, Ann Demeulemeester added a very vague reference to corsetry by just the addition of one item – a leather bustier using straps as closures.

But, this garment or accessory, whichever it will be categorized later is so strong that it became the focal point of the collection as the sharp Edwardian tailoring were merged with ruching and draping that ushered some very femme looks on mannish silhouettes.

Trousers that are more like riding habits than everyday pants were proposed with knee-high boots, thus there was also an equestrian feel to the collection; which, by the way makes sense since it was inspired by the Edwardian era, when motor cars were just invented.
