Bruno Pieters Fall 2009
Bruno Pieters Fall 2009

PARIS, Mar 6, 2009 / FW/ — At Bruno Pieters, the lady is still an eighties girl with her pagoda shoulders but the Belgian designer’s take on this trend is to make the metro girl a square courtesy of short capes and square collars.

Opening with a separate – mini A-line skirt and a suit jacket top, the ‘square idea’ was immediately introduced with the hood that framed the face like a rectangle. What followed was a play on geometric shapes that somehow always seem to end up a square.

Though square, rectangles and even triangles are angular, the collection is actually very soft. The architectural treatment of the silhouette is very apparent but by tracing the curves of the female form, the end results are soft shapes that are balanced by geometric figures.
