DSquared2 Fall 2009

MILAN, Mar 4, 2009 / FW/ — A curving white staircase reminiscent of the 1950s Fontainebleau’s famed “Staircase to Nowhere,” where belles and beaus descend for a grand entrance, Dean & Dan Caten made it the grand exit of the metro girl Cinderella going home after the ball.

Like Cinderella, who started off with her ball gown then magically changed to her maiden clothes, the DSquared2 girl also wore long silk evening gowns, though her change is not magical.

Instead of using a fur wrap to keep her warm, she wears the more pedestrian chunky sweater or biker jacket, and thus slowly changing from the toast of the party to the college coed in everyday life.

And like most college coeds, she lives out in a tiny dorm room, her wardrobe minimal; hence she mixes and matches everything. Outlandish at times, but very creative and quite frankly very eye-catching most often than not, she exudes cosmopolitan glamour.

Case in point, puff sleeve plaid blouse layered under a plaid vest cinched at the waist with a wide belt is worn with cargo denim jeans then accessorized with a huge tote, opera gloves and aviator sunglasses.

Or take the pageboy trousers worn with a V-neck tee which was also cinched at the waist with an obi-wide belt decorated with crystals. The coup de grace, a brief Chanel-inspired jacket; now, how cool is that?
