Elie Saab Fall 2009
Elie Saab Fall 2009

PARIS, Mar 14, 2009 / FW/ — Known for his eveningwear and red carpet dressing, Elie Saab, as a he told reporters backstage deliberately chose to focus on daywear this season as a response to the current global economic crisis.

With a theme of the quietly luxurious Parisian spirit, the Lebanese designer sent out long lean looks in monochrome or two-tone colors with very apparent 1980s influences. Peaked shoulders and tiny waists emphasized with boxing-inspired belts and micro boleros embroidered with macro lace and fur inserts give the collection a sexy edge.

With black as the main color palette, Saab also lightened up the tone by sending cream, glazed chestnut, powder grey and dusty blue. Micro silk prints define key dress shapes while the architectural silhouettes contrast the shiny parkas and cigarette pants.
