Haider Ackerman Fall 2009
Haider Ackerman Fall 2009

PARIS, Mar 9, 2009 / FW/ — Since the 2000s rolled in, we had been waiting for the new silhouette that will define the first part of the 21st century, and Haider Ackerman may perhaps given us what we had been looking for.

Combining fluid lines achieved through draping with the very sharp silhouettes of tailored jackets and trousers, Haider Ackerman created a timeless look that transcends seasons. The approach is traditional – draping and use of zippers, but it is the execution which is innovative and novel.

High waist pants with zippers made the legs look longer, thus when the soft rolled collar of the blouse reaches it, there is a softening effect with the sharpness of the trousers’ silhouettes but the line continues thus making the model look taller and slimmer.

The form-fitting floor-length frock adorned with a sewn-in shawl that drapes diagonally across the upper torso and covers one of the shoulders have the lengthening effect.

Subtle, soft and romantic, as Haider Ackerman reinvented the term for the 2010s, the designer also touched on the current zeitgeist of luxury without being ostentatious.
