Maison Martin Margiela Fall 2009
Maison Martin Margiela Fall 2009

PARIS, Mar 8, 2009 / FW/ — After reinventing the pagoda sleeve that has become this season’s big trend from New York, London, Milan and Paris, it is pointedly absent from the Maison Martin Margiela collection.

Having personally witnessed its development for several years based on what Martin Margiela would put on the runway, it was truly disheartening not seeing how it would have progressed if the Belgian designer is still in the house he has founded.

According to an announcement, Martin Margiela has gone on ‘extended leave,’ whatever that means. But, fashionistas know what it means based on what was sent on the runway. Martin Margiela is not there to direct the creative process and it shows.

Hopefully, his ‘extended leave’ ends soon and he should be back where he belongs.
