Requiem Fall 2009
Requiem Fall 2009

PARIS, Mar 8, 2009 / FW/ — Amidst the frenzy of Paris Fashion Week, the Cercie de l’Union Interalilee seems like an oasis of serenity with its marble floor and Renaissance paintings, a perfect background for Requiem, a luxury ready-to-wear line that evokes elegance and sophistication.

Founded in 2005 by Raffaele Borriello and Julien Dessellem, Requiem joins two worlds from opposite ends of the spectrum – haute couture and industrialization. Respecting the tradition of Parisian couture, Borriello and Dessellem use modern techniques and fabrications to create clothing that is highly influenced by the refinement of the 1940s and 1950s.

Hence, it is not surprising that for Fall 2009, Requiem proposes slim silhouettes that follow the curves of the woman’s figure as seen in the floor length gown and in the black mini dress adorned with an inverted U in blue that ends into slightly gathered hemline.

So that it will not be too girly, Raffaele Borriello and Julien Dessellem created square shaped tuxedo jackets that complimented the very feminine strapless cocktail dress with ruffle layers as skirt.

The Requiem Fall 2009 collection stayed true to the identity of the brand that is built on the couture spirit, the references to the 1940s and 1950s style. Two talented young men, Raffaele Borriello and Julien Dessellem are behind the Requiem label.

A native of Italy, 35-year-old Raffaele Borriello graduated from the Accademia del Costume e della Moda in Rome before he started his career in France at Balmain, where he gained profound insights in the Parisian couture houses. After that he continued to work for Gucci, under the direction of Tom Ford, Sonia Rykiel and Yves Saint Laurent.

Half French – half British, 28-year-old Julien Desselle began his career in New York at KCD Public Relations after having graduated from the European Business School. His next step brought him to Milan where he worked for Gucci and Costume National.

Based in a Parisian atelier with traditional haute couture know-how and which has produced collections for the most important French brands give Requiem that extra edge to become one of the exciting labels to hit the Paris fashion scene.
