MADRID, Mar 30, 2009 / FW/ —The ROBERTO TORRETTA winter 2009 collection has taken on a new sophistication. Where shape and volume take on major importance and contrast is paramount. It celebrates the femininity of the future that is contaminated by references of the past.
The collection takes its inspiration from influences from seventies designer Ossie Clark, giving it an ultra-chic feeling. A long lean silhouette is then infused with low squared off necklines for wool or georgette maxi dresses and georgette blouses, paired with flannel wide leg trousers. This is then mixed with volume that bursts into couture abundance, taking on sculptural proportions.
Voluminous ottoman opera coats and trenches. High-waisted double-face silk skirts and dresses, ruched wool or silver glazed tweed cropped jackets paired with taffeta and chiffon blouses with oversized boule sleeves, giving a hint of romanticism to the collection.
Add in a heavy dose of rock and roll influences to the collection, which translates into ultra slim pants in leather or wool satin, smoking jackets with heightened shoulders and ultra short gathered satin dresses, giving the collection a noir sexy touch.
The color palette of midnight shades of charcoal, murky blacks rich chocolates, bronze and mink are then brightened by deep reds and opulent violets.
