Sharon Wauchob Fall 2009
Sharon Wauchob Fall 2009

PARIS, Mar 6, 2009 / FW/ — It’s official, black is the new black… Irish designer Sharon Wauchob gave a nod to this major trend by making black a vibrant color by playing with volume and texture, thus avoiding the dangers of being monotonous when using only one color.

Wauchob tackled the silhouettes first by sending asymmetrical leather and wool jackets with big collars and paired with jodphurs. Then using draping, the tunic dress became a fashion statement as she rolled the hems and the necklines.

Volume and texture became important elements. Again with draping, Sharon Wauchob changed the texture of the fabric as vertical lines became diagonal or formed a semi-circle around the neck. There was also a 3-D effect as layers of fringe were embedded in the dress, thus making it an intrinsic part of the garment.
