PARIS, Mar 12, 2009 / FW/ — Staying true of her principles of not using leather and fur in her collections, Stella McCartney sent out shaggy lambs’ wool coat made to look like fur and the ubiquitous “leather” leggings which are actually fabric that was treated to look like second-skin leather.
These pieces alone would have made the collection outstanding but Stella McCartney was just starting. Biker jackets were worn over mini chiffon sheath dresses emphasized the tough girl look that began with the faux leather leggings.
Then there are also the mannish jackets cut long enough to be the same length as a mini skirt. Worn over lingerie-inspired garment and over faux leather leggings or stiletto boots that reaches way up to the thighs, it becomes an androgynous look.
