Veronique Leroy Fall 2009
Veronique Leroy Fall 2009

PARIS, Mar 8, 2009 / FW/ — Dogs made of Swarovski crystals worn over the shoulders instead of the expected fur, shoes with split personality wherein it could not decide whether it is a sandal or boots, and breakaway coats in laser cut holes, the Veronique Leroy Fall 2009 collection proved to be very Net Generation centric.

Though it stayed with the current trend of black as the main color palette, Veronique Leroy also proposed gold, silver and light blue as alternative colors for the woman’s wardrobe.

But, what is interesting is how the French designer was able to manipulate the current 1980s trend to be her own as she sent square jackets with wide shoulders and big pockets yet the focal point is the ‘dog’ wrapped around the model’s neck.

Even the animal print trend was manipulated to include polka dots! Black on dark brown, it looked like tiger prints from even up close; i.e. one has to look very closely to see that they are polka dots.
