Pamela Anderson and Vivienne Westwood on the runway
Pamela Anderson and Vivienne Westwood on the runway

PARIS, Mar 8, 2009 / FW/ — Pamela Anderson is a lot of things, but high-street fashion model is not one of them. She is several sizes too big in the bosom to even be considered one. But, we are talking about Vivienne Westwood here, and somehow, though it really looks and sounds incongruent, we were keeping our fingers crossed that it would work.

Unfortunately, it did not. Whatever message Vivienne Westwood is trying to get across never reached our ears. There was no political agenda, not even a charity of fashion philosophy was mentioned. From where I was sitting, it looked like Pamela Anderson was there just for the buzz. And it saddened me to see the very vocal Vivienne Westwood was silenced by a Baywatch babe.

Fortunately, the rest of the collection is vintage Westwood. Using draping, folding and ruching, the British designer sent out shirt dresses, travelling capes and cowl neckline jackets that are quite aspirational.

And, if I may add, this is one of the more wearable collections that she had shown in years.
