NEW YORK, Mar 2, 2009 / FW/ — Five grand pianos, five classical pianists and 44 exits of dynamic shapes and whimsical decoupage of materials, Zac Posen, like the Five Browns who played live during his catwalk presentation last Feb 19, hit the crescendo like a true maestro as Posen mixed industrial shapes and romantic silhouettes for a perfect form.

Arguably, this was the most lavish show of the season. It has everything that fashion dreams are made of. A star-studded front row that included Claire Danes, a piano concerto being played live on Steinway grand pianos by the Five Browns, and sumptuous Victorian-inspired clothes made modern by injecting the shapes of the 1940s.

Since his debut at Bryant Park, Zac Posen has been a darling in the New York fashion scene, expanding his reach to include the whole 50 states. He dreams big and usually the dream pays off; like this collection, wherein, to the risk of sounding redundant, Mr. Posen is making women dream!

But, isn’t it what fashion is all about? Never mind the jeans and fast retailing. Those are our everyday clothes; that’s when we say, ‘Oh, this old thing that I just put on.’

That does not apply to a Zac Posen creation in this instance. It’s something that a woman aspires to have; something we see in a window and say, “I want that dress, come hell or high water.”

So, recession or not, chic goes on and Zac Posen is one of its strongest proponents.
