MADRID, Apr 26, 2009 / FW/ — Born in Madrid, Javier Larrainzar was brought up between Spain and Germany. He inherited from his father his passion for the fashion, devotion and effort which are afforded to each creation, thus succeeding in developing his own personal style.

His professional training took place in Italy and in the United States. He graduated in design from the Instituto Marangoni in Milan, and took post-graduate courses at the Domus. He then moved to New York to work with the famous fashion designer Oscar de la Renta for three years. There, he collaborated in designing collections and organized the American designer’s first four fashion shows in Paris.

Javier Larrainzar returned to Madrid from New York in 1992 with one clear objective in mind: to pour all his creative energy into inaugurating his own haute couture workshop. It was at this time that he consolidated his position in the domestic marketplace. In 1993, he made his debut at the Cibeles Fashion Show (Madrid) which he has supported staunchly to this very day.

The year 1996 marked a commercial milestone: he opened his boutique in the Salamanca district of Madrid, acknowledged as the capital’s centre of haute couture fashion. The firm continues to grow and, in 2002, he inaugurated the Pasarela Javier Larrainzar boutique in the El Corte Inglés department store on the Castellana. He has also taken part in international fashion shows such as: Washington (USA); the Fashion Show Gala in the Spanish pavilion in Lisbon, and Tel Aviv.

It is thanks not only to his elegant and particular approach to fashion but also to his entrepreneurial skill that Javier Larrainzar’s trademark is currently positioned at the forefront of Spanish haute couture. Larrainzar works personally on all aspects of the design, marketing and business of his firm.

However, he has not limited himself to this, but he has diversified his market and expanded his product line which now includes initial inroads into the world of wine by launching a Javier Larrainzar limited edition for Heredad de Baroja-Reserva 1998. He also designed his first sunglass and progressive eyewear collection for the firm Visual Global which he showed at Expo Óptica and at all the editions of Pasarela Cibeles since February 2003.

Another of Javier’s penchants is for interior design, a passion which has materialised in diverse projects such as his collaboration since 2006 with Javier Duarte in the design of furniture and, in that same year, he presented his first home linen collection Larrainzar Casa at the Casa-Pasarela fair.

Larrainzar Joyas is a couture jewellery collection inspired by the Pasarela Cibeles Fashion Shows which he has developed in alliance with BIJEM, a company with over 20 years experience in the sector on an international scale.

After several prêt-à-porter collections with other collaborators and years of experience in made-to-measure outfits, the firm took one further step by designing, for the prestigious NOVISSIMA bridal group, its new 2007 prêt-á-porter bridal collection which it recently presented at Pasarela Puerta de Europa.

Through its recent affiliation with Caja Madrid in January 2007, the Javier Larrainzar firm is projecting its national expansion and is planning on opening nine new points of sale.
