JOHANNESBURG, May 25, 2009 / FW/ — The whole world learned about Arise Magazine last February when the Nigeria-based publication made its debut in New York during fashion week with an African fashion collective catwalk show and also unveiling its premiere issue.
Last week, Nduka Obaigbena, Editor-in-Chief of Arise and Chairman of ThisDay, the publisher of Arise made another bold move by collaborating with African Fashion International (AFI), organisers of the Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban Fashion Weeks by becoming the title sponsor of Africa Fashion Week.
“The partnership with African Fashion International (AFI) is a continued celebration of African achievement and an extension of our commitment to recognize and showcase the very best of African creative talent,” Nduka Obaigbena commented in a statement.
“I firmly believe that ARISE Africa Fashion Week will attract an international audience and markets beyond the global African Diaspora. The world’s eyes will be firmly focused on Joburg”, Obaigbena added.
The first ARISE Africa Fashion Week will be held at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg, from the 12 to 20 June 2009. ARISE Africa Fashion Week is five-year sponsorship agreement with ARISE Magazine.
