DALLAS, May 9, 2009 / FW/ — Two different cities and two different beats present different kinds of music to different music lovers. As Spock of Star Trek will say, “Infinite diversity results to infinite combinations.”
DALLAS
On Sunday, May 17, at 6pm in the Cathedral Shrine of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Guadalupe, the Diocesan Choir and Cathedral Chorale will combine for a performance of Mozart’s Vesperae solennes de Confessore, K. 339, with orchestra and soloists Lucy Tamez Creech, soprano, Natalie Arduino, mezzo-soprano, Del Howard, tenor and Jason Awbrey, bass.
This concert, in memory of the late Father Gilbert J. Graham, will also feature the solo cantata Exsultate, Jubilate, K. 165, sung by Ms. Creech. Funds raised by this concert will benefit the Fr. Gilbert J. Graham Institute Endowment, established in 2003 to support the Gilbert J.Graham, O.P. Institute for Sacred Music and Performing Arts.
The Father Gilbert J. Graham, O.P. Institute for Sacred Music and Performing Arts was established in honor of Fr. Graham upon his retirement in 2003. The Institute’s mission is three-fold: to create, to build and to sustain a sacred music and performing arts program at the Cathedral, enhancing its presence and its participation in the life of the Arts District.
