NEW YORK, Jun 5, 2009 / FW/ — For the first time ever, the New York based designer Adam Kimmel, in collaboration with contemporary artist Kon Trubkovich, has created a limited edition t-shirt exclusively for thecorner.com.
Continually in search for conceptual thought and artistic expression, Kimmel chose Trubkovich, an emerging Russian artist based in New York to collaborate with him on this unique initiative. From May 2009, the limited edition tshirt will be sold exclusively on thecorner.com.
The t-shirt has been created in three colors: white, navy and black and features a print drawing of a vintage Californian number plate.
Kimmel stated that “My Spring/Summer Collection 2009 was inspired by the artists surrounding the Ferus Gallery in 1960’s Los Angeles. Kon Trubkovich re-lives that spirit, which is why I collaborated with him on this T-shirt.”
Adam Kimmel’s wide-ranging quest for inspiration from the art world has embraced the style of many significant personalities and movements from which he takes inspiration. Kon Trubkovich was also photographed in one of Kimmel’s latest look books.
Kon Trubkovich, the Russian born painter, sculptor, photographer and fashion designer explores themes of confinement, rebellion and autonomy in a self-referential parallel. Trubkovich is interested in the idea of achieving freedom within the restraints of incarceration, the desire to escape and the nature of that achieved freedom.
This artwork initiative represents a further step into the style of Adam Kimmel, whose collections are now available worldwide thanks to thecorner.com, the new virtual “department store” featuring the latest collections from cutting-edge international designers and a selection of hard to find Italian brands – many of them appearing online for the first time.
