Petar Petrov Menswear Spring 2010PARIS, Jun 29, 2009 / FW/ — “The beauty craziness and transformation of beauty ideals inspired me for this new collection, so we tried to get back to strong personality in our casting”, wrote Petar Petrov in his press notes.

And, if you’ve been following Systeme D’s Jean-Luc Dupont on Twitter who documented the pre-show activities including casting via Twitter and Twitpics, then you would know that Petar Petrov is speaking from the heart.

Because that is what this collection is about – the heart, as in an emotion, a feeling even love as Petar Petrov proposed simple fitted silhouettes that felt like a second skin. Light and smooth materials follow the body shape… it was natural… it was organic.

Sorbet shades of gray, aqua, and green were mixed with white, black and red for drama.

Petar Petrov’s vision of the beauty ideal was also in flux, as the models became part of the tableau on the catwalk. Usually relegated to supporting roles because the clothes take center stage, this time, the models shared the limelight with the collection. And thus, the vision is complete.

With the start of the second decade of the 21st century, the focus once again is the ‘man’. Since the 1980s, it was the clothes that make the man. Petar Petrov is changing that point of view – the man makes the clothes!
