TOKYO, Jun 9, 2009 / FW/ — To Gen X, the Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen holding its world premiere in Tokyo is nostalgic, even apt in so many ways. After all, the franchise’s progeny is in Japan.
Originally an animated television series depicting a war between giant robots who could transform into vehicles, animals, and other objects, The Transformers was based upon the line of transforming toys originally created by Japanese toy manufacturer Takara, which were developed into the Transformers line by American company Hasbro.
From the sandbox to the small screen to the big screen, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, the latest incarnation of the series begins it worldwide journey where it all began – in Japan.

The film will open in Japan and the United Kingdom on June 19, and June 24, 2009 in North America.
