Gaspard Yurkievich: the future of nostalgia

Instead of holding a catwalk show, Gaspard Yurkievich collaborated with French artist Antoine Bouillot for an art exhibition ‘Under the Louvre.’ Showing at the Carousel du Louvre from Jun 26 – 28, 2009, the exhibit is a cheerful and artistic reflection of the influences of pop culture and luxury to the artist and the designer, while echoing the Gaspard Yurkievich’s Spring / Summer 2010 collection.

Inspired by the photos of the West Coast’s relaxed and sophisticated lifestyle by Bruce Webber, Gaspard Yurkievich’s Spring 2010 menswear collection is available by appointment.

Une dernière danse ? (One last dance?)
Journal d’une décennie, 1970 / 1980 (Diary of a Decade 1970 / 1980 )
Préface de Karl Lagerfeld

Says Karl Lagerfeld about the book, “This book by Philippe Morillon is wonderful; it leaves a vision of a fleeting time that w can only dream of today.”

“Philippe Morillon is an illustrator, photographer and art director who has worked for several magazines including Vogue and selfish. He began in this book to draw the pictures for chronic group young people – his band of friends at the time – hedonistic and refuses the bourgeois social conventions gave rise to what the press would later call “hip” which in turn became emblematic of Paris in the late seventies and years eighties.

In addition to its hedonism, the specificity of this group lies in its elitism and night dress pushing some members of this tribe’s exhibitionism or snobbery. Several of them evolve the latest in fashion, photography or music. Their quest greedy pleasures lead some to abuse sometimes artificial paradise will prove fatal.”
