Valentino Haute Couture Fall 2009

PARIS, Jul 9, 2009 / FW/ — It was bound to happen, the famous shade of red vanished from the Valentino runway after the designer Valentino Garavani retired. And it happened Wednesday, when Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli, co-creative directors chose black, beige, multiple variations of gray that include metallic and gunmetal as their color palette.

First question that came to mind was will they be able to pull it? The answer is a resounding YES! Sending ruche, ruffled and semi-sheered gowns and cocktail dresses, Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli received approving nods from the loyal Valentino fans in the audience.

Respecting the code of the house of fluidity and suggestive sexuality, Chiuri and Piccioli also proposed ideas of their own like the bustier cocktail dress in tulle that shows a lot of skin but still leaves a lot for the imagination.

The brain is the best aphrodisiac and Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli know just how to manipulate it!
