Michael Angel Spring 2010NEW YORK, Sep 11, 2009 / FW/ — With strong, influential women like the one-of-a-kind Nancy Cunard as his inspiration, Michael Angel created a fabulous collection that we’re sure she would proudly don.

Speaking to this stimulus, bold, structured bodices and jackets contrasted feminine, delicate flounces below. Abbreviated hemlines were short enough to induce flushed faces, and bra tops exposed slivers of stomach above high-wasted minis.

Huge, origami-like pleating and tough leather kept up the strong fem vibe with exposed zippers and accentuated shoulders keeping the looks current.

But it was the impressive prints that stole the show- think photo-quality images of faceted gems enlarged and abstracted like peeking through a kaleidoscope. Angel shied away from dainty embellishments, instead creating wickedly cool crystal work with large gold stones clustered atop sheer sleeves.

Accessories were minimum but noteworthy, the enormous hammered gold cuffs and studs complimented the colorful gems in the prints. Fun, young, and fashion-forward, Angel rocked the tents with his latest collection.
