Zang Toi Spring 2010NEW YORK, Sep 16, 2009 / FW/ — Always one to impress with his uber feminine designs, impeccable tailoring, and not to mention infectious personality, Zang Toi didn’t let his audience down with his latest collection.

Debuted at his showroom on 57th, the matador inspired designs found a perfect backdrop as models strode down the tall staircase in the middle of the room. The always well-dressed Ivana trump and the stunning Miss Universe, Stefania Fernandez, ogled the dramatic gowns and separates in fresh black, white, pink, lime, and red silks and linen.

Toi seemed to have a more mature clientele in mind, with no-fuss clean lines and demure silhouettes of high necklines and ultra-wide-legged pants.

Staying true to his flair for fun dramatics, he kept the looks fresh with bold elements such as exaggerated puffed sleeves, sequins and delicate appliqués of wide lacework and beaded butterflies.

But by far the most striking detail was the heavy matador beadwork in plates across shoulders and along the sides of skirts complete with flirty tassels on the ends, a different take on the current military-style jacket trend ala Michael Jackson.

With separates fit for royalty and Oscar red carpet worthy gowns, its no wonder that Toi has maintained such a strong following from his elite clientele.
