NEW YORK, Oct 10, 2009 / FW/ — “Trucker”, the movie that launched Michelle Monaghan as a dramatic actress made its theatrical debut at the New York’s Village East Cinema under the auspices of The Cinema Society and underwritten by Calvin Klein Collection.

Directed by James Mottern, “Trucker” centers on Diane Ford (Michelle Monaghan), a vivacious and successful independent truck driver, who leads a carefree life of long-haul trucking, one night stands and all-night drinking with sometime boyfriend (Nathan Fillion) until the evening her estranged 11-year-old son, Peter is unexpectedly dropped at her door.

Made specifically as a “film festival” entry (when did film festival movies become a genre of its own), “Trucker” had been shown in film fests around the country but this is the first time that it is having its theatrical release.

And with Michelle Monaghan, who was a fashion model before turning into acting in the starring role, it is poetic that Calvin Klein Collection, one of the members of the triumvirate that dominates the New York fashion scene hosted the debut screening.

Followed by a private dinner at The Charles in New York City, guests included the star of the film Michelle Monaghan who was wardrobed by Calvin Klein Collection for the evening and Trucker’s director James Mottern.

Other guests included Mary Alice Stephenson, models Karolina Kurkova and Arlenis Sosa, and Olympic fencer Jason Rogers, all of whom were also wardrobed by Calvin Klein Collection.

Other notables in attendance included Jennifer Creel, Celine Rattray, James Mottern, Meredith Melling Burke, Eleanor Ylvisaker, Jackie Astier, Ann Caruso, Sabine Heller, Bonnie Morrison, and Leslie Fremar.
