DALLAS, Oct 10, 2009 / FW/ — Proposing sportive tops, knotted skirts and trousers, one shoulder sheer cover-ups and strapless swimsuits for Spring 2010, Estrella Archs was in her element when she unveiled her namesake label’s collection in Paris a few days after debuting at Emanuel Ungaro.
A graduate of London’s Central Saint Martin’s, Estrella Archs had been showing her collection in Paris for the past several years before she was tapped by Emanuel Ungaro for the top creative post. And though her name is recognizable in the Paris fashion scene, Archs was a virtual unknown to the American fashionistas, i.e. until last week when she took her bow with Lindsay Lohan.
The repercussions of the disastrous Emanuel Ungaro debut still remains to be seen, but several positive things had come out of it. The American market is now familiar with the name Estrella Archs, which is a positive thing for the Spanish designer and her own creations in her eponymous label is also now in the eyes of a wider audience.
Ironically, Lindsay Lohan’s ineptness in fashion and her notoriety brought Estrella Archs, her eponymous label and Emanuel Ungaro in the limelight, including the tabloid press. Publicity is publicity, so perhaps, Lindsay Lohan did something good after all, hence, we should not really be so hard on the young actress, yours truly included.
