(Photo by Ulet Ifansasti/Getty Images) Day 5 of Jakarta Fashion Week 09/10 saw a resurgence of innovative menswear. Nikicio Homme, Jeffry Tan and Deden Siswanto presented groundbreaking collections made up of simple, stylish separates that cater to Indonesia?s growing number of young, savvy and fashion conscious men. Nikicio?s take on menswear is of the more austere kind?masculine, fitted, well-tailored pieces in monochromatic shades. Jeffry Tan?s silhouettes are looser and accented with some very interesting construction details apparent in several pieces such as the drop crotch pants and asymmetrical shirt. Deden Siswanto took Indonesian menswear to a whole new level with his selection of sheer fabrics. Wearability aside, these bold progressive collections successfully captured the Indonesian zeitgeist. As one of the fastest growing economies of the G20, Indonesia?s creative scene has boomed over the last couple of years as more and more Indonesians are becoming more educated and receptive of new, emerging trends that betray old conventions.
