PARIS & BERLIN, Nov 7, 2009 / FW/ — Broadcasted live last November 5th in most of the European continent, the red carpet at the 2009 MTV Europe Music Awards is an interesting blend of musicians, entertainers, actors and corporate executives.
There was a time when MTV was considered anti-establishment, but after more than two decades of existence, it has become a multi-national “corporation” like this show’s sponsors – Sony Ericsson and Dell, which interestingly enough, their executives also grace the red carpet and surprisingly blended well with the very colorful musical artists.
But, before you raise your eyebrows, please consider that in today’s global environment, a symbiotic relationship between the arts (music in this case) and commerce exists. Hence if Sony Ericsson and Dell execs hobnob with Beyoncé Knowles, Joss Stone, Katy Perry, Franziska Knuppe, the Norwegian band Yoga Fire and Mike Dirnt, Billy Joel Armstrong and Tre Cool of Green Day, so be it.
