DALLAS, Jan 29, 2010 / FW/ — Inspired by the extreme beauty and inexplicable attraction of jewels, Custo Dalmau of Custo Barcelona created dreamlike and surreal images based on gems and precious stones for the label’s Fall 2010 collection.
Known for its bold graphics and expressive prints, Custo Barcelona through the years has evoked different emotions from its audience from its collections.
“We produce “mood-clothing”—pieces that our fans seek out to express their emotions,” says Custo Dalmau. “Over the years, countless fans have approached us to share their favorite Custo piece; most of the time that has had something to do with an image from one of our graphic print tees.”
And the Fall 2010 collection, which will be unveiled in Bryant Park on Sunday, February 14th at 8:00 PM is also expected to elicit an emotion from its audience; what it is will be revealed during the runway show.
Abstract images of jewels, diamonds, lips, perfume bottles, butterflies and feathers have been mixed with emblematic Custo Barcelona graphics in this collection.
The colors of the gems also served as the color palette this season; black and pink diamonds, sapphires, turquoises, emeralds and amethysts are used alone or mixed together.
“The runway is where we experiment,” says designer Custo Dalmau. “Where other designers use fashion week to present trends for the upcoming season, we have always used fashion week as a venue for expressing artistic ideas and emotions. “
“The core of Custo Barcelona’s ideology is to present the consumer with new and unique designs,” explains Dalmau. “So we are always evolving our graphics, prints and color palettes to present new, exciting fashions.”
