BARCELONA, Feb 7, 2010 / — On January 28, 2010, the Jan Iú Més’ designers and designer Karlotalaspalas tied for the 080 Barcelona Fashion Award for BestMen’s Collection and the designer Miriam Ponsa won the 080 Barcelona Fashion Award for Best Women’s Collection.

The international jury, made up of the historian Lydia Kamitsis, the Casa Fashion & Design’s director and former director of the Musée de la Mode de Marseille, Sylvie Richoux, the chief editor of themode.tv, Alain Camilleri, the president of the Parisian fashion school Atelier Chardon Savard, Dominique Savard, and the Moroccan designer, Karim Tassi, chose those two labels among the fashion show’s designers in competition for the award.

The president of the jury, Lydia Kamitsis noted that “the jury took into account the following criteria, the creativity and innovation of the design, the quality of the fabric’s confection and the potential saleability of the collections.”

080 Barcelona Fashion’s fifth edition in numbers

Regarding the number of visitors, more than 9,400 people attended the various 080 Barcelona Fashion’s fashion shows, which presented this year the collections of 18 designers. This number represents an increase of 40% compared to the fourth edition.

More than 550 journalists from more than 200 media were accredited this year, with 22% of them from news agencies (general and specialized), 9% from newspapers, 32% from Internet medias (websites and blogs), 5% from radios, 5% from televisions and 27% were freelancers (especially photographers).

In terms of sponsorship, 16 firms have supported this 080 Barcelona Fashion edition. Among them, 4 main sponsors: La Roca Village, Hotel 1898, Nissan and Atrezzo, and 12 collaborating firms: MAC (Makeup), Grupo Julià, Stereorent, Alterna & Marcel, Sutton, O2Centro Wellness Pedralbes, MUJI, DEDON, Le Book, Nespresso, Lays Gourmet and Heineken.
