adamF1034NEW YORK, Feb 16, 2010 / FW/ — Adam Lippes’ rustic glam collection was the highlight of the weekend with looks running the gamut from shearling separates to gingham ball gowns while still remaining delightfully cohesive.

The all-American feel came complete with exaggerated scarves and petit sweaters in chunky knits, fleece harem joggers with ribbed calves, and cognac leather belts defining otherwise casual looks.

The outerwear could have easily stood alone, as Lippes made the classic shearling motif his own by adding black leather trim, using the spongey fur itself as edging on over-sized lapels, and incorporating other furs trimmed short to line utilitarian parkas.

Sequins proved to have staying power with intricately decorated silk dresses, skirts, and tops glinting in black, gold and silver foliage. The opening number, a glossy walnut leather shift, followed by the meticulously ruffled silk mini competed with the aforementioned outerwear for the top pieces.

However, the collection as a whole truly stood out because, for once, it felt as though it was a peek inside a stylish woman’s wardrobe that had been accrued slowly over time. It was refreshing to see such direction, classic Americana.
