alexander_mcqueen02NEW YORK, Feb 16, 2010 / FW/ — I have avoided writing about Alexander McQueen’s passing because I feel that any obituary I write will just be a repetition of what had already been written.

Like most fashionistas, I know Alexander McQueen the designer, but I never had the opportunity of knowing Lee, the man.

I had the honor of attending his shows and seeing his design genius in person; I had seen him take his bow on the runway as the audience gave him a thunderous applause. I had even attended presentations for his PUMA line, wherein though he was not even around, I could feel his presence because of the inventive designs in front of me.

It is hard to say goodbye; I truly wish that this is just a goodnight. But, I know that Alexander McQueen has taken his final bow.

And like the flowers being laid by his fans in front of the Alexander McQueen store at the Meatpacking district, I would like to end this with this poem:

Now I lay me down to sleep,
I pray the Lord my soul to keep.
If I should die before I wake
I pray the Lord my soul to take.
