NEW YORK, Feb 10, 2010 / FW/ — Everyone knows by now that 22-year –old Brooklyn Decker is the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit 2010 issue with David Letterman unveiled the billboard at Times Square.
But, that is just the beginning of the press merry-go-round. For all its worth, the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit edition has become as iconic as the Super Bowl and its launch just before New York Fashion Week start just made it on the calendar of the “must-be-invited” party among the fashion set.
Last night, the Provocateur, the new club in Hotel Gansevoort hosted the SI Swimsuit Edition launch with the SI models in attendance. The girl of the hour, Brooklyn Decker was of course in attendance.
Born in Middletown, Ohio, and raised in Charlotte, N.C., Brooklyn Decker was discovered at 16 in a mall and began her career as the face of Mauri Simone and had gone on to headline campaigns by Gap, Intimissimi and Victoria’s Secret. Brooklyn just happened to be married to tennis superstar Andy Roddick.
A native of Nizhny Novgorod, Russia Anne V (V is short for Vyalitsyna), 22 was discovered in St. Petersburg. The fashion set knows her at the face of Yohji Yamamoto and of Chance Chanel.
A model for Tom Ford, Ann Taylor, Yves Saint Laurent and Victoria’s Secret, Brazil native Cintia Dicker has been on the cover of Elle, Madame Figaro and Brazilian Vogue/Teen Vogue magazines.
South Africa native Dominique Piek, 24, has appeared in advertisements for Samsung and Speedo and was on the cover of the South African Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue in 2007. This is her first US appearance in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue.
Esti Ginzburg, 19, is a native of Tel Aviv, Israel. She began her modeling career at 8 in a milk ad. By 14, she had signed with Elite Models and has gone on to model for Tommy Hilfiger, Burberry, FCUK, Pull & Bear and Castro. This is Esti’s second appearance in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue.
Another South African on the roster, Genevieve Morton, 23, has been the face of Guess watches, and has appeared in Greece Vogue and South African Sports Illustrated. This is Genevieve’s first U.S appearance in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue.
Better known among the fashion set as the face that has launched ads for Balenciaga, Valentino, Dolce & Gabbana, Givenchy, Donna Karan, Gucci and Ralph Lauren, 22-year old Hilary Rhoda has graced the cover of Vogue, British Harper’s Bazaar and W
