LOS ANGELES, Apr 14, 2010 / FW/ — Modern lifestyle brand BB Dakota announced this week that it is adding footwear to its product line and the new collection is set to launch Holiday 2010, just in time for Christmas.
BB Dakota designers, Gloria and Katharine Brandes, draw inspiration for their shoe line through a study in opposites – feminine silhouettes with masculine detailing, luxurious fabrications with raw edges, bold but still pretty.
The designers say, when asked about the creative process, that they began by thinking about every shoe they’ve ever truly loved and fleshing out why it is they loved it. Their mission statement is to create breathtaking shoes but to still create value for their customer.
The collection of 12 styles includes wedges, cutout heels, flats, and oxfords made from fabrications such as mesh, lace, leather, velvet with details like exposed zippers and equestrian-inspired buckles. BB Dakota’s footwear will win the hearts of fashionistas and ‘sensible shoe’ types alike since, in every style, comfort and wearability is a chief concern.
The color scheme includes gold and silver metallic, black, and ecru. Attention is paid to every detail in the design – even the less visible elements, like the nude leather lining with stitched-in BB Dakota logo and a picoted edge.
Sold in better department stores and specialty boutiques nationwide, BB Dakota is designed for twenty to thirty-five year old smart, fashion conscious women who care about quality construction and details. The footwear collection retails for $80 to $250 and will be sold in better specialty boutiques and department stores nationwide.
