BARCELONA, Apr 1, 2010 / — With a Bachelor’s degree in Optics and Optometry from the Univeristat Politècnica de Catalunya (1999-2002), Montse Liarte could have pursued a career in the medical sciences, but decided to pursue a career in fashion instead

Driven by her creative impulses, Montse Liarte enrolled at the BAU School of Design in Barcelona where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design (2002-2006).

After graduation, she honed her skills by apprenticing with Elisa Amann as an assistant in launching the Knitwear Collection for the brand “Desigual” and the launch of designer Josep Font’s secondary line “Font 2”.

In 2007, Montse Liarte won the Giles-Rosier-Paris 2007 Award, out of the Premi Catalunya Dissenyadors Emergents 2007. 2007 Modafad Award for “The Best Collection”, out of the Premi Catalunya Dissenyadors Emergents 2007.

In 2008, she moved to Paris to work as assistant to Lutz and finally in January 2009, she launched her eponymous line and debuted at 080 Barcelona Fashion Week in September 2009.
