DALLAS, May 5, 2010 / FW/ — Releasing its Fall 2010 collection, Mykita introduces several new models for their iconic Collections “No1” and “No2”

MYKITA Collection NO1

NO1 ORVILLE Black Silver

This spring sees the introduction of the new ORVILLE model, which will have special appeal for male wearers.

The current trend towards retro-style design makes a subtle entrance here to the world of spectacles for everyday use.

The angular basic form combined with a thicker upper frame and a striking bridge is a clear reference to popular metal frames from the 1960s.

The similarity is especially evident in the two-tone version, which contrasts a black top line with a mirror-finish on the lower frame edge. ORVILLE is available in the low-key finishes Brown, Blackberry and Graphite.

DECADES JOHANN Offwhite

MYKITA Decades

The Decades Collection comprises reinterpretations of classic glasses frames from yesteryear.

JOHANN is a Panto-style model and a throwback to the 1930s. The near-circular lenses are framed by extremely wide edges, resulting in a bold and highly expressive design.

The form contrasts with the substance here; the MYKITA concept of ultra-thin stainless steel pulls this design out of its historical context and transports it to the present.

JOHANN would perhaps have been the frame of choice for le Corbusier had the model existed in his lifetime. JOHANN can be ordered in the colors Offwhite, Chocolate and Black.

NO1 SUN TROY Shiny Silver

MYKITA Collection NO1 SUN

Prominent corners and edges and the ideal sunglasses size are the defining features of TROY, a new unisex addition to MYKITA’s COlleCTION NO1 SUN.

What sets this frame apart is a visual effect that suggests a soldered-on upper bridge element. It’s a small detail that will not go unnoticed among the fashion-forward crowd.

TROY is available in Black, Shiny Gold and Shiny Silver.

MYKITA Collection NO 2

NO2 GARY Tobago

The new acetate joints embedded in the temples serve as a stylistic device that also makes the frame instantly recognizable for MYKITA connoisseurs.

In addition, the acetate collection will be expanded to include two new colour options: Tobago and Taupe.

The first is an elegant tortoise-shell pattern distinguished by a mottled array of bright colours, while taupe incorporates a warm, translucent and milky grey tone.

MYKITA plays heavily with frame forms, constantly performing variations in the thickness of the outer contour and the size of the lenses. This spring will see a move away from the voluminous designs that characterised recent seasons and towards a new, more delicate look.

The oversize GARY model is a reinvention of a classic form from the early 1980s. The technical progress that made larger corrective lenses possible enabled designers to adapt frames for enhanced comfort and all-round visibility. Big was beautiful back then, as reflected in the eyewear of choice among fashion-conscious executives in europe. Thirty years on MYKITA has created an ultra-light 4mm-thick version of this ultra-large look for him and

NO2 SUN RANDY Taupe

MYKITA Collection NO2 SUN

RANDY is an ironic, unisex take on a classic ”macho” model rooted in the early 1970s. The choice of relatively small lenses combined with a larger-than life frame and bridge give this design a slightly cartoon-like appearance. The frame consciously incorporates styling elements that are reminiscent of diver or welder goggles while also conveying further associations with the kind of men who wore them.

MYKITA’s realization of this image is made from high-quality acetate and comes in the colours Amethyst, Tobago, Taupe and Black. Urban nomads will appreciate the expression of their multi-faceted personalities through the resulting play with contrasts, especially when coupled with the delicate facial features of female clubbers.

Mykita Eyewear is available at Bergdorf Goodman, Barneys and Net-a-porter.com
