MADRID, May 9, 2010 / — In Spain there are around 700 companies that specialize in wedding fashion, First Communion attire and party-wear. Catalonia brings together the largest number of wedding gown companies, whilst Madrid features the largest number of party-wear companies. As a whole, some 13,000 people work within this sector.
The wedding fashion and party-wear industry generates a turnover of around 1,300 million euros a year, of which more than one quarter corresponds to exports, especially exports of wedding gowns, ceremonial clothing and bridegroom attire.
In this respect, the industry continues seeking to penetrate new markets such as Russia, Poland, the Arab nations and Latin America.
The staging of a wedding with one hundred guests entails a financial outlay of between 11,000 and 26,000 euros. The wedding reception is usually the main expense that the bride and bridegroom must bear. Depending on the venue and the banquet menu, the average price can be between 50 and 110 euros per head, to which other expense items must be added, such as music and a free bar.
