NEW YORK, Sep 1, 2010 / FW/ — Of all things that could have inspired designer Kaelen Farncombe, a tornado would be the last one on the list, but stranger things have happened and yes, for Kaelen Spring 2011, the muse was a tornado!

Explains the designer, “I went Tornado chasing last year, and was inspired by the weather itself, the colors, the momentous shift from calm to crazed that happens in a split second. I wanted to create something that was equally modern and timeless with an element of chaos.”

There you have it!

A native of Toronto, Kaelen Farncombe studied English Literature (wherein she actually earned a degree) before moving to New York to study Parsons School of Design. While still studying, she held positions at MTV, Jenni Kayne and Stella McCartney which gave her a well-rounded real life education on fashion and retail. So, it’s not surprising that after graduation, she launched her eponymous label.

Literally a new label in the New York fashion scene having been launched only this year and Spring 2011 is only its second collection, Kaelen continues to draw interest among the fashion set.
