LONDON, Nov 28, 2010 / — The Americans have the day after Thanksgiving as their biggest shopping day; the British have a weekend.
This weekend is the biggest shopping weekend of the year with over two million shoppers expected in London’s Westend. Shoppers hit the high street as their Christmas pay-packets will have just cleared and retailers will be kick-starting festive promotions.
From 10am until 5pm on November 27, Oxford Street and Regent Street have been closed to all traffic, offering Christmas shoppers a unique West End experience. More than 100 shops are participating in the Shop West End VIP Day and several stores opened their doors as early as 8am as they compete for the attention of the shoppers.
This year, Shop West End VIP Day is also giving back to its first ever charity partner Starlight Children’s Foundation, which grants the wishes of seriously ill children.
