NEW YORK, Sep 29, 2011/ FW/ — Entitled ‘A Lesson in Geometry’, Michelle Smith, the designer behind the young-luxury collection Milly, presented a geometric-filled Spring/Summer 2012 ready-to-wear collection from drawing print and color inspiration from the artist Sonia Delaunay’s bold and intricate textile work at the Cooper-Hewitt museum.

Smith’s geometric lesson included clean, linear silhouettes and textural pleats accented with geometric embellishments and shapes including modern graphic stripes, zigzags, and rectangles in bright hues of tangerine, jade, and azure, but softened with earthy shades of brown and indigo.

Vibrant accessories also played into the mix with handbags including long, rectangular clutches, totes, and satchels in electric shades of hot pink, citron, and tangerine. Showing a preppy side to the bold geometric collection, Smith presented her limited edition Milly for Sperry Top-Sider footwear collection.
