NEW YORK, Sep 29, 2011/ FW/ — Entitled ‘Light and Flight’, the designer Wayne Lee, who was inspired by photographs of the American desert landscape, as well as by desert birds of prey, focuses this season on movement and lightness.

To express this theme in her collection, Lee collaborated with painter Benjamin Degen on a rope print that exemplifies the colors of a clear desert sky, as well as using materials such as leather, crepe, viscose, cotton, and silk in the collection to create a sense of movement.

By incorporating these materials and using an earthy, soft color palette consisting of black, white, bone, sand, and sky blue, the collection is able to capture the lightness of a falcon’s wing and the harsh glare of a parched desert valley.
