NEW YORK, February 14th 2012, Lela Rose Fall 2012 Runway Show

For fall 2012, Lela is inspired by Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava. This means combining structure with movement and functionality with romanticism. On the runway we see long, angular silhouettes, sharp shoulders, and cinched waists. There is an emphasis on layers and angular cuts. Lela describes the color palette as “rust, sulfurous, amber, dark bronze and white silver.” Graphic fabrics are shown on long dresses and evening gowns alike. During the show one of the songs repeated the phrase “true romance,” and the collection is truly all about leaving a romantic aura.  Many of the flowing frocks are sheer, and paired with body-suits underneath. Intricate beading added a charming element to several of the pieces. A frequent trend on the runways this season is a sheer neckline, and Lela Rose is no exception. It adds a level of sensual glamour without being too sultry. Chevron prints have a fair share of appearances from outerwear to sweaters. A gorgeous navy, poppy-red, and green floral print was seen on a coat and a dress featuring sharp angles. To keep with the enchanting movement of the clothes, the models wore their hair up in an off-center up-do that pairs nicely with the classic red lip.

Lela Rose has partnered with Payless and the shoes featured on the runway will be available in stores in September!
