Born in Poland and raised in Austria, Tomasz Donocik is the ‘dark prince’ of modern times. His jewellery is as extravagant and striking as its creator.
Fascinating literature, inspiring architecture and enchanting surrealism are all weaved into Tomasz’ designs that aim to redefine jewellery and challenge preconceptions of self-adornment.
After graduating from the Royal College of Art, one by one Tomasz launched a variety of men’s jewellery collections. First was the Soviet-inspired ‘Rising Star’, followed by the equally avant-garde and sophisticated ‘Russian Aristocrat’, and ‘Shard’.
Taking the next step, Donocik developed women’s jewellery collections and some couture pieces, all of which featured unmistakable bold designs of contrasting colours and textures.
With Tomasz’s imagination wandering towards fine jewellery and precious stones, it was not long before the ‘Garden of Good and Evil’ was born. With a story built around a neglected magical garden, the designer plays on a contrast of opposites, combining fairy-tale innocence with the macabre.
In addition to developing pret-a-porter jewellery, Tomasz Donocik also executes personal commissions with the skill of an artisan gained by years of crafting jewellery by hand and collaborating with such renowned brands as LVMH, De Beers, Garrard and Stephen Webster.
Donocik has been honoured with numerous awards in recognition of his achievements, including ‘Jewellery Designer or the Year 2011’ by Retail Jeweller and a double award for ‘Debut’ and ‘Diamond Jewellery over $20,000’ in Last Vegas.
