Vans x Hello Kitty _LOGONEW YORK, Jun 18, 2014/ — Hello Kitty turns 40 this year and for its ruby anniversary, Sanrio and Vans have teamed up to create a limited edition summer footwear capsule collection.

Launched in 1974, Hello Kitty became an instant favorite among tweens and teens and became a global symbol of cuteness overnight.

To celebrate its “kawaii”-ness for the past 40 years, Vans will release an all-new footwear collection for women and kids. Select shoes from the collection feature Vans Classics designs inspired by Hello Kitty’s vintage products from the ‘70s.

Inspired by beloved Hello Kitty plush, the Vans Sk8-Hi Slim uses plush sidewall detailing and features an embroidered face and red bow details.

Two offerings of the Authentic include an all-over Hello Kitty print taken from an original tote bag Sanrio offered in the ‘70s and a one-of-a-kind print that blends Hello Kitty’s cute face atop a vintage Van Doren leopard print.

For the first time, Vans designed a custom checkerboard-printed bow just for Hello Kitty’s special celebration.

The kids and toddlers collection also features a range of styles. The Vans Classic Slip-On showcases the fuzzy plush details on the front panel with an embroidered Hello Kitty face. Two Authentic offerings match back to the Women’s Classic Collection.

The limited edition Vans x Hello Kitty collection debuts this month and will be available online at vans.com/hellokitty and at Vans retail locations globally as well as Sanrio.com and select Sanrio boutique stores. Retail prices range from $37 – $70.
