LONDON January 7, 2019

The PRIVATE POLICY FW19 collection tells the story of four characters who are integral to the money system: bankers, workers, police officers, and robbers. Blending our downtown streetwear aesthetic with structured pieces, the collection radicalizes formal silhouettes and creates garments that have an easygoing flow. The FW19 color palette ranges from rich browns, greys, and black to pops of gold, burnt orange and vibrant orange. Highlights include oversized tailored wool coats and outerwear referencing bankers; clear quilted vests and harnesses that pay homage to police officers and robbers; and denim utility workwear representing the working class.

As a global brand, PRIVATE POLICY sourced inspiration and design materials that spotlight currencies from around the world. The ever-present domination of money is visible through a vest with pockets of shredded bills from the United States and Saudi Arabia, quilted silk jackets with printed coin-wrapper patterns, and embroidered details lifting imagery and wordage from currencies including Qing dynasty coins. The FW19 collection offers a wide range of outerwear, shirting, pants, harnesses, scarves, and accessories.

Since 2012 the “GQ PRESENTS” project has recognised trendsetting New Generation Chinese designers and given them the opportunity to show their collection on the International fashion runway during London Fashion Week Men’s.

Over the past 6 years Designers Xander Zhou, Kay Kwok, Sankuanz, Sean Suen, Simon Lee and Zhou Jun and Li Yushan founders of PRONOUNCE have all taken part in the ‘’GQ PRESENTS” project with great international and domestic success.

ABOUT PRIVATE POLICY

PRIVATE POLICY was founded in New York by Haoran Li and Siying Qu. The brand name means “Making your own rules”, which took concepts of youth culture in downtown New York as the DNA of the brand. Each season, PRIVATE POLICY carefully chooses one contemporary topic related to society, environment, and politics, that demand attention, as the inspiration. From social class discrimination and environmental issues in FW16, to criticizing slave labor in South- east Asian fishing industry in SS17; from the FW17 discussion of the struggle of globalization to the discussion of the distorted American dream in SS18 collection. For 2019 fall winter collection, with the title of “Human VS. Money”, the concept is about exploring the consumption obsession under the leadership of current capitalism. Continue the com- monly-used “news-reporting” style, the designs reflects the discoveries of people’s personal relationship with money, financial institutions, details on currencies, and last but not the least, the effects of human greed on nature. All these elements are smartly merged in the collection design from the silhouettes, fabrics, and graphics to the runway show styling and music, to lead people’s attention on this topic, to raise awareness and discussion, while they enjoy the excitement and fun fashion brings.
