Inspired by the sentiment found within the pages of Dr. Seuss’s Oh, the Places You’ll Go!, Cynthia Rowley took its collection on the road to Melet Mercantile’s new DTLA location. The collection was presented with dancers of Los Angeles’ American Contemporary Ballet followed by cocktails and a dance party.

Exclusive Rowley x Melet merchandise is available alongside collection pieces and treasures from Melet Mercantile.

“After showing during fashion week we wanted to recontextualize the show everywhere it goes. So in LA we brought these four creative forces together, each in its own form creating a collective story,” says designer Cynthia Rowley. “These dancers are strong female athletes, giving us a new way to animate the collection through movement.”

“We were proud to host, as our inaugural event in our new DTLA property, Cynthia Rowley’s Spring 2020 presentation and other pieces from her collections,” says Bob Melet, founder of Melet Mercantile. “We enjoyed the process of taking Cynthia’s design inspiration from Dr. Seuss’s Oh, the Places You’ll Go!, and bringing her vision to an experience with a stunning performance by the American Contemporary Ballet company, and showcased imaginative original artwork and drawings from Dr. Seuss throughout the space.”

“Contemporary fashion and ballet trace back to the same historical roots,” says Lincoln Jones, artistic director of Los Angeles’ American Contemporary Ballet. “The idea behind this show was to bring that shared background into the forefront, and to reveal in the clothing, styling, and the movement a relationship which sits just under the surface.”
