Gen Z and celebrities like Bella Hadid and Kendall Jenner are still hopelessly in love with Jean Paul Gaultier and his iconic garments. Now that the French enfant terrible has left the creative direction to Florence Tétier, it is up to the young designer to take the brand forward and keep the interest in the brand high without undermining its charm and heritage. Thus was born the collaboration with Mytheresa for an exclusive capsule collection that revisits the archive and some of Gaultier’s most famous creations.

It consists of 20 pieces and accessories that have sequins, rhinestones and transparencies as their trait d’union. Glam and bling-bling effects invade every detail such as the denim, totally covered in iridescent sequins, is reminiscent of Jean Paul Gaultier’s 2013 ready-to-wear collection “Look Alike”; while for the marinière and navy tattoo prints, both entirely embroidered, and the transparent shirt dress the reference is the 1990 ready-to-wear collection “Les Rappieuses”. The tattoo print, perhaps the most iconic and beloved element of the JPG style, embellishes bodysuits and fishnet tights together with a shower of rhinestones. The sparkle transfers from clothing to accessories (all perfect for the upcoming festive season) with the three pieces of jewelry (earrings, necklace and belt) created by Florence Tétier by intertwining the JPG initials in rhinestones.

The exclusive Jean Paul Gaultier x Mytheresa capsule collection, presented with an editorial by Kenny Germé featuring model Dorothy Cheng, is available from 7 December on the luxury online retailer.
