LOS ANGELES, Jul 20, 2008 / FW/ — ‘Do not allow a rapper to out-bling you,’ Donatella Versace advised fashionistas. Celebrities followed her advise during the Met’s costume ball in New York wherein necklaces were used as hairpieces or belts! Not everyone could afford those baubles, but there is hope as jewelry designer Dean Harris, in collaboration with Target comes to the rescue.
Target is partnering with accessories designer Dean Harris to launch a limited-edition jewelry collection, Dean Harris for Target®. This chic, yet affordable, collection is the third jewelry launch in a series of limited-time-only accessory designers at Target. The Dean Harris for Target collection will be available at most Target stores nationwide and at Target.com August 17 through December 26, 2008.
The 2000 CFDA Perry Ellis Award for best new accessory designer, Dean Harris has been sculpting jewelry pieces since 1999 and he constantly works with diverse materials ranging from 18K gold, African woods, opals and diamonds. His jewelry has accessorized the runway collections of Bill Blass and Marc Jacobs and is currently sold at Barneys New York and other fine retailers nationwide.
His work had also been displayed in New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art during the “Goddess” exhibit in 2003. He also had a solo show at Kent State University Museum in 2007-2008. This is the first time K.S.U. has dedicated an exhibition to the work of a single jewelry designer.
As the third jewelry designer in a series of limited-time-only accessories designers, Target has teamed up with Dean Harris for their most recent limited-edition accessories collaboration.
The Dean Harris for Target collection is reminiscent of nature, fusing organic shapes and designs to create feminine and delicate adornments. Materials range from sterling silver to semi-precious stones, shells and real pearls.
Styles include a peace sign cuff, ring and charm bracelet, thin chain necklaces with pebbles, and 18k gold plated drop leaf earrings. The exclusive Dean Harris for Target collection ranges in price from $19.99 to $99.99, with a special holiday-edition piece priced at $249.99.
