Phillip Lim Spring 2009
Phillip Lim Spring 2009

NEW YORK, Sep 13, 2009 / FW/ — With his signature lattice work reproduced in bigger than life wooden screens, Phillip Lim’s Spring 2009 collection immediately spoke of grandeur even before the first exit was shown. And he more than lived up to expectations!

Opening with a white shirt adorned with golden appliqué and a pair of black low-waisted slouchy pants, Phillip Lim set the tone – a romantic yet sportive vision for Spring / Summer 2009.

The latticework on the backdrop was reproduced in the coats and dresses, or suggested in the graphical prints; Phillip Lim kept the collection directional. With wave-like ruffle trims, chiffon dresses and the use of fringe, Phillip Lim continued the theme and maintained a tight rein, thus never losing cohesiveness even with both womenswear and menswear sharing the runway.

Looking for a new look without spending thousands of dollars? Phillip Lim has the best proposal so far – an extra long belt that is tied like a bow at its closure. Now, how cool is that?

Oh, and for those who are keeping a front row watch, Juliette Lewis and Irina sat on the front row, alongside Suzy Menkes and Glenda Bailey.
