Brioni

MILAN, Nov 26, 2008 / FW/ — Known among the international set for its excellent tailoring, Brioni is bringing its time-honored tailoring techniques to the London Royal College of Art for the second year in a row with the objective of handing down the most sophisticated tailoring techniques to a new generation of talented young people.

As part of the three-year collaboration between the Italian maison and the RCA, Brioni will sponsor the Royal College of Art MA Menswear Fashion Design Course for three years, making its legendary tailoring skills available to the Royal College of Art.

One of Brioni’s master tailors will consult with the RCA Menswear Course professor and tutors to work out a curriculum for the academic year. The same Brioni master tailor will also teach an annual Master Class so students can learn the art and technique of menswear, a tailoring tradition to which Brioni is strongly linked that has made it the preferred luxury brand of the international elite.

Students in the program will have an opportunity to spend a week of intense hands-on tailoring at the Scuola di Sartoria di Brioni (Brioni Tailoring School) in Penne (in Abruzzo), where they will be taught Brioni’s standards of handcrafted excellence.

At the end of the academic year, a prize will be given for the best work, with the awards ceremonies being held in Milan during the Spring 2010 menswear season in June 2009.
